Message from the Chief administrative Officer As 2011 has come to an end, the municipality has continued to progress in upgrading the infrastructure. Last year's completed projects include the Hyland Park Outfall; Benham Soccer facility expansion; the looping of water lines from the Water Treatment Plant to Gateway as well the municipality continues to study the possibility of a well site at Bray Road and PR 202 for the municipal water supply. The municipality also purchased equipment for providing a response to emergencies which include an Emergency Operations Trailer, a pump and aqua dams. With the warmer weather approaching the municipality is planning and preparing for our summer projects. Included in the proposed 2012 Capital Roadwork's budget is to double chip-seal Hoddinott Road from Gateway Road to Manlius Street which will be done during the summer months as not to disturb school traffic; and Mulder Road Construction from Gateway Road to Raleigh Street. Path Reconstruction and Rehabilitation on Hoddinott Road to include Raleigh Street to Orkney Drive, Raleigh Street to Gateway Road and Dorcon Drive to 262 Hoddinott Road as well as replacing the existing asphalt sidewalk on Glenmoor Drive to Hoddinott Road with a concrete sidewalk. The municipality is also considering the possibility of providing automated waste/recycling pickup for East St. Paul starting later this year. These proposed projects will be included in the 2012 Financial Plan presentation to property owners currently scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. Council has also approved the request for tenders for Phase 1 of the new Public Works/Community Services building to be located on Gateway Road. In 2012, the municipality will be providing more information regarding Inflow and Infiltration of the municipal sewer system to residents so the problem areas can be identified and subsequently reduce the effluent to the municipal sewage treatment plant and costs to the sewer customers. For more information on identifying crossconnected sump pumps please contact the Public Works Department at 668-8336. In the fall of 2011, the Council was presented with a capital expenditure program to 2022 which includes the source of revenue to cover the expenses and taking into consideration the future growth of the municipality with regards to the proposed subdivisions which will include up to 400 new residential properties. The future of East St. Paul is positive and it is exciting and encouraging for all of the staff to be a part of the planning and implementation of development for a growing and prosperous municipality. Should any resident have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact The municipal office at 668-8112. Regards,Carol Oppermann, CAO |
